A designer mix, the Shih Tzu Bichon mix is a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu. The resultant of a breeding process called hybrid vigor, which involves combining the positive traits of 2 different breeds, to make a superior, genetically h2er breed, which is much healthier, and free of the original genetic disorders. Hybrid dogs are much less prone to diseases that purebred dogs are prone to. Pure-breeding increases chances of the offspring inheriting the genetic disorders from the parent, and facing health problems later on. The Shih Tzu Bichon mix is hence less likely to inherit health problems from either of its parents.
Also called Shichon, Zuchon, and Tzu Frise, the Shih Tzu Bichon mix is considered one of the best among the designer dogs. The mix results in a small dog, with a full grown adult weighing about 9-16 pounds, and standing only 8-11 inches tall. They are also very colorful and can be black, white, silver, gray, tan, or cream, or even a myriad mix of all or any two of these colors. Their coats are medium to long length, soft, and curly, and double coated. These small dogs look, and feel like stuffed teddy bears. Hence, they are also called Teddy bear dogs, and Daisy face.

Zuchon Health Problems
While the Bichon Shih Tzu is a hybrid dog, knowledge of the parents used in the cross can help find out if they are prone to any diseases. Typically the Shih Tzu is prone to eye and breathing problems. The Bichon Frise is prone to have skin allergies. The Shih Tzu Bichon is genetically less prone to have any of these problems. The inheritance of the longer nose and tear ducts from the Bichon Frise rid it of the nose and eye problems.
